Academy for New Composition and Audio-Art

The International Academy for New Composition and Audio-Art offers concentrated tuition in composition and Performance Art. Tuition and practical experience is offered in the following fields:

• Instrumental composition, (Bogusław Schaeffer; Salzburg/Krakow)
• Audio-Art: (Edwin van der Heide; Rotterdam)

This combination of specialities has resulted in a project which transcends conventional notions of composition tuition and offers a valuable complement to regular composition studies. Avantgarde Tirol is an excellent post-graduate academy.

The Tirol Academy is a unique institution: built upon the above mentioned disciplines, the curriculum contains original elements seldom found on other composition courses.

The International Academy for New Composition and Audio-Art was founded by Marianne Penz-van-Stappershoef in Schwaz/Tirol in 1993. From 1993 to 2002 more than 60 talented composers from five continents took part in the Academy in Schwaz.

In 2005 the Academy moved from Schwaz to Seefeld in Tirol. The Seefeld Plateau, with its friendly population and overwhelming natural beauty will provide an inspiring setting for the artistic activities of the Academy.
